EDITORIAL OF GULF NEWS : RENEWING THE FACE OF THE EARTH
The birth of the saviour Jesus Christ renews the earth and regenerates life in everything. So too, the celebration of Christmas brings a renewed strength for the proclamation of the Gospel for us. We give thanks to God for all the spiritual blessings bestowed on us from the heavenly places (cf. Ephesians 1,3) during the year 2018. A lot of events took place on our various missions and we believe they all occur through the power and the watch of God. We praise God for all positive developments and those we consider to be at the negative side, we again praise God and ask him to grant us the strength to stand these events because we believe that, “all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose” (Romans 8,28). I therefore urge all to keep the hope alive in all situations for God is always on our side.
This year, we have been blessed with newly ordained priests as well as those who took their first and permanent oaths. These are all signs of growth. All our regions held their assemblies with good participation of members and as usual a great sign of fraternity and collaboration was exhibited. The administrative team also visited several missions and I must say that confreres are happy on their missions. This is what God wants from us and I am glad that we are living to this expectation.
Dear members, associates and lay missionaries, we are entering a new year which has a lot in stock. We are at the end of the mandate of all administrative teams in the society. As usual every six years, the society holds its general assembly to evaluate its mission and plan for the six years to come and renew its leadership team. Thus, next year April/May the General Assembly will be held in Rome. Let us pray for its success. I sincerely thank those who took part in the consultative processes leading to the election of our delegates as well as the consultative vote for election of the Superior General. We entrust these future developments into the hands of the Lord.
I would like to conclude by imploring the grace and blessings of the Almighty during the coming year 2019 by using these words from the Sacred Scriptures : "Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out.. "Blessed shall you be in the city and blessed shall you be in the country” (Deuteronomy 28:2).
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
